Laura Hill

In all seriousness, it hasn’t been an easy three years for the reserved Laura Hill with several life changing events causing a stumble and nearly stopping the music from flowing inside of her. They say when it rains it pours and during the thick of Covid 19 Laura lost her Aunty and Father to cancer. She also witnessed her Mother fight cancer during the same period.

These events prove there is no doubt Laura is a lover, she has an undeniable desire to make people feel better through her music and live performance, managing to establish connections on so many levels.

No one gig defines Laura and as long as her music is connecting and touching the lives of her listeners she will continue to shine.

After touring nationally and with newfound pride in her sense of place, Laura’s home on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula helps define her impeccable indie folk sound. Winner of the People’s Choice Folk award in the 2018 South Australian Music Awards and the ABRA Blues and Roots album of the year 2018, Secrets was recorded live in several stunning locations that clearly defines the releases ambiance. From Mixmaster’s studio, known for its incredible acoustic warmth to the stunning stonewalls of a restored historic barn for the tracks Beautiful and Dreamer. Her fourth studio recording, it demonstrates a deviation from the somewhat laid back demeanour of her earlier albums Guava Tree and Blue Skies and greatly compliments her best selling solo release Powdered Sunshine from 2014. The songs here are emotionally raw, painfully honest and yet threaded with a singular bright positivity... swung from the heartfelt letter that didn't get through, to ballads of stargazing, shoe-gazing and road-tripping.

As an independent artist, your support and generosity never goes unnoticed and Laura can’t wait to connect with you somewhere out there soon.
